What does it really mean to be a Reformed pastor or elder? You may think of holding to a Reformed confession of faith or preaching the doctrines of grace, or such things. And yes, it means all these things. But for Richard Baxter, "a Reformed pastor" does not limit himself to being able to intellectually affirm these if you don't put them into practice in your own life, and in the life of your congregation. A Puritan classic on pastoral ministry that would change you and your church for the glory of God. About the author: Richard Baxter (1615-1691) was an English Puritan church leader, theologian, and controversialist. He is best known for his excellent pastoral reputation in his ministry at Kidderminster, where God granted him the grace to see hundreds of conversions and an entire village being transformed by the power of the Gospel. Baxter was a bit controversial among Calvinists, because of his view on repentance, nevertheless he preached a biblical Gospel. Richard Baxter died on December 8, 1691.
